Testimonials

First, a message from the Coach:

"We are passionate about the recovery work we do with our wonderful clients and we're proud of the strong relationships we've developed with other mental-health providers and recovery professionals in the southeast.  We've been in service-oriented work for a long time and believe that the best thanks we can ever hope for is the encouragement that comes from seeing people recover and live their beautiful new lives!

We believe that everyone has the potential and ability to recover from the dis-ease of addiction and we've watched it happen for many-many people, our clients and others. The following excerpts are their words, not ours.  We thank all of you for the kind and generous letters and more importantly, we thank you for your commitment to carrying the message of hope and recovery to those who will hear your voices and read your words here.  Together we can make it!"

“First I want to say that you have been a personal inspiration to me.  You have this amazing recovery energy and kindness that was always present even when I called late at night in a panic or in tears about something that was going on, your kindness and understanding always came through for me.  Your own honesty about personal experiences helped me open up almost from our first session and it was so easy to share on a deeper level than I ever have with anyone.  The nine months I spent working with you in the coaching program was exactly what I needed in my early recovery.  I am so grateful to have had someone so gentle, kind, spiritual and direct in my life when I needed it most.”

-Kim N., Nashville, TN

"This was so worth it.  I had many reservations about a 6-month commitment and opening up to a stranger, but being in your program was one of the most healing experiences ever, you actually helped me build a life of sobriety!  I'm so grateful that you offered me energy therapy and showed me how body, mind and spirit are the keys to my recovery."

"I have the tools now that I have never been able to grasp.  I feel confident that I know what needs to happen for me to succeed in my new life.  I am aware of my character defects, my fears and the resentments that keep me from being free.  I think differently and see life through a new set of eyes.  I am truly grateful for you and what you do."

"Dear JC,

I wanted to thank you for all the valuable help you have given Grayson, Ian and myself.  We would not be where we are today - working our programs one day at a time - without you.  You have helped Grayson build a strong support team and worked through many important issues to help him on his journey.  We are blessed to have you as part of our recovery team.  Thanks again."

-Jodi K, Atlanta, GA

“Having a knowledgable recovery coach in my life is a real gift. I am grateful for the opportunity to reap the benefits of his wisdom and experience. Having my coach in addition to therapy and my 12 step program gives me the extra support I need on my journey to a new life in sobriety.”

-Heather S., Franklin, TN

"Surprise!  It seems like a long time.  I write this on my 1 year birthday of being clean & sober (since 4.7.15). This has been a year of ups and downs. However, through it all I have stayed on track, clean and sober and continued on the journey.  I am grateful for my life today.  I am grateful for all of those in my network.  I am truly grateful to you for being there for me every step of the way those first 6 months.  I am also grateful for energy balancing therapy during my sessions, I never knew anything about it, but it has changed my life for sure!  Your office was a safe place to come and get fed the perfect dose of recovery and support I needed every time!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sincerely..., Nashville, TN

“As I take time and think back about these months that have passed, I really feel so grateful to you. I am not just saying this to say it, I really mean it. I don’t know that Mark and I would have made it through if it weren’t for you. You have such a gentle and understanding way about you and any time I was on the ledge you always made me feel better and hopeful. I appreciate your honesty, your demeanor, and your experience. I am just so grateful that you worked with my family to bring all the recovery work together. You are fantastic at what you do, so thank you.”

“We heard that angels exist but never were fortunate enough to meet one until we met you. Amy and I cannot express just how much it means to us for you to have done what did for our son in the short time you have been part of his life.  He continues in the recovery routine you two established and he never stops talking about energy balancing therapy!  Your compassion and understanding for people struggling with addiction is unsurpassed. We think you are so special and wish that the world was filled with many more like you. We thank you with deep appreciation for helping us during this difficult time.”

-Andrew and Amy, Madison, TN

“This has been awesome. When I first got out of treatment and was “on my own” for the first time, my dad reached out to Sober Recovery Journey for help to make sure I stayed on track. They helped devise a comprehensive coaching plan that made it possible for me to return to college at UT, and now I am eligible to walk next May! Without their help, I don’t think I’d be here today. Thanks alot and best of life to you all!”

-Hank L., Nashville, TN

“My coach has been an integral part of my recovery. My counselor referred me to Sober Recovery Journey because I was struggling with some of the day to day challenges after a pretty bad drug relapse. Through an incredible coaching relationship, the extra support and experienced guidance I received, I feel more confident in my sobriety and my daily recovery routine is awesome!”

"Recovery is about awareness, and that’s what I was taught: the fundamental tools I needed. These tools will be forever embedded in me."

- Sophia, 20

"I drank and smoked weed my entire freshman year at Vandy and when I realized that I was about to throw everything away, I decided to stop partying, but I got really scared when I found that I couldn't stop.  I was different than the other girls in my sorority.  I went to a 28 day treatment program and almost drank the first weekend out.  My parents found my recovery coach and we worked together for nearly a year while I learned how to ask for help and capitalize on my strengths with my coach.  I'm about to start the fall semester of my junior year and haven't been high or drunk in a year and a half!"

- Britt, 22

"I've been trying to stay sober on my own and through AA meetings for many years.  I finally found that what I needed was structure and I didn't have a clue as to how that worked until I made contact with Sober Recovery Journey.  Life is pretty damn good these days, 540 days since my last drink!"

- Jeff, 51

“I’m able to participate in my life in ways I didn’t think we’re possible. Sure, not every day is sunshine and roses. Life still happens, but I now have the tools and the support to handle it with dignity.”

- Steve, 34

"Becoming a recovery coaching client was the first good decision I made following my 30 day rehab. I really needed support to build a healthy routine. I had to get honest and admit to my husband that I had no experience in being responsible for my recovery.  The coach helped me build accountability to my recovery which allows me to be responsible to myself, my husband and my children.

- Monica, 34

“I’m not running away from anything anymore—I’m running towards things, towards my goals. I look forward to challenges in life instead of disappearing into drinking and drugs.”

- Will, 24

"I ask for help when I get freaked out today. I’m no longer afraid of who I am without a drink in my hand."

- Mark, 34

"I was in a really awful rut, I would get clean and sober, put on a little weight, get my relationship with my girlfriend back on track and I would start thinking I was well and that everything was fine.  I can have a few drinks and maybe a few hits off a joint one evening then within a day or two I am back on a coke binge and pushing everyone back out of my life.  I heard about recovery coaches when I was in California a couple of years back at my last treatment center.  I didn't know about Sober Recovery Journey in Nashville until my girlfriend heard about them from a friend of a friend who had been a client and had great success.  I had one last chance with her and I knew I needed something more than meetings and my broken thinking.  I made an appointment with a coach and he and I formulated a plan to keep me accountable and I began my new journey.  We worked on building my life around my strong points and new recovery actions.  I'm coming up on 18 months drug and alcohol free!  The recovery coaching program helped me build a sustainable process for my sobriety.  I'm so grateful for my coach and his professionalism."
